Check below or complete a Connect Card and we'll get you connected. Learn More What should I expect? Our yoga classes are Christ-centered and draw us into an intentional time of worship and prayer. A typical yoga class begins with a short meditation, or centering. The participants are always reminded on the importance of focusing on breathing. Later, the yoga practitioners are lead through an either simplified, or a more advanced warm up, and later yoga poses. Every class ends with final relaxation. All levels are welcome! Are your classes challenging? Classes are never the same. With each session, the class is designed for the level of the students who are attending the class that day. Still, each student is encouraged to listen to their own individual need, and to always listen to their body. What if I have more questions or need more information? We are excited that you are interested in Yoga Church here at St. Paul's! You can find more information by contacting us by visiting spumcabq.org/contact What can I expect? In spin class, you pedal along on a stationary bike as the instructor guides you through a visualization of an outdoor workout. The pace and speed will vary throughout the workout, sometimes requiring break-neck speed, and other times pedaling happens from a slow, standing position. "Maintain a fast cadence then progress into an intense hill climb while listening to motivating music on our fully adjustable bikes. Our high-intensity Cycling classes build endurance, strengthens the core and tones your muscles. Our bikes are equipped with cycling computers which provide riders with information on cadence, heart rate, distance traveled and calories burned in the workout summary. All of our bikes are equipped with Triple Link pedals to accommodate both Look and SPD cleats/clips. Sweat towels are mandatory and complimentary for all members and guests participating in our indoor cycling classes." - Defined Fitness Website I'm new to exercising. Where do I start? Starting a Fitness Program like one of our Spin Classes or even stretching out our body in one of our Yoga Church Sessions, is one of the best ways to stay in good health emotionally, spiritually and physically. So, good for you! It is recommended to keep these few tips in mind as you begin any fitness program!* Start slowly and build up gradually. Give yourself plenty of time to warm up and cool down with easy walking or gentle stretching. Then speed up to a pace you can continue for five to 10 minutes without getting overly tired. As your stamina improves, gradually increase the amount of time you exercise. Work your way up to 30 to 60 minutes of exercise most days of the week. Break things up if you have to. You don't have to do all your exercise at one time, so you can weave in activity throughout your day. Shorter but more-frequent sessions have aerobic benefits, too. Exercising in short sessions a few times a day may fit into your schedule better than a single 30-minute session. Any amount of activity is better than none at all. Be creative. Maybe your workout routine includes various activities, such as walking, bicycling or rowing. But don't stop there. Take a weekend hike with your family or spend an evening ballroom dancing. Find activities you enjoy to add to your fitness routine. Listen to your body. If you feel pain, shortness of breath, dizziness or nausea, take a break. You may be pushing yourself too hard. Be flexible. If you're not feeling good, give yourself permission to take a day or two off. *These tips are provided by the MayoClinic Staff under our Fair Use Disclaimer for non-commercial personal use only.

< Back Previous Devotionals A devotional can have numerous benefits, including providing daily guidance and inspiration, helping to deepen one's faith and relationship with God, and providing a sense of peace and comfort during difficult times. It can also serve as a reminder to prioritize spiritual growth and maintain a consistent prayer and meditation practice. The importance of a devotional in the United Methodist lies in its ability to cultivate a personal and deep relationship with God. It serves as a spiritual practice that fosters introspection, worship, and scripture reading, ultimately nurturing faith and growth. Devotionals help us as United Methodists connect to God's presence and guidance in their daily lives, and also provide a platform for communal worship and shared experiences, encouraging spiritual unity and fellowship within the Methodist community.
